Set build

Part of my final year production design assessments. This set build was constructed on six 4' x 8' flats, with a lightweight doorframe constructed to act as a seventh wall piece.
A hand made phone box and display panel act as the hero props of this particular set, both being highly detailed and weathered.

Structural forms 101
In trying to construct the set as quickly, and cost effectively as possible, I devised a means of creating solid wall pieces by gluing two sheets of cardboard to egg palettes. Doing so gave the pieces a sturdy and easily modifiable shape. Larger sheets could then be mounted over these walls to create the angular protrusions and doorframe seen below.

Emergency Hard Line
Inspired by the save stations seen in the game Alien: Isolation, the emergency hard line box, was a prop constructed in great detail, internally lit and weathered.
The body is comprised entirely of precision cut 3mm foam board with the exception of the curved hood, being the corners of a plastic bucket.

Airlock status display panel
The airlock status display panel, was comprised of an old, digital photo frame, inside a foam board casing. Painted and weathered accordingly to look metallic.
I designed the simple graphic in photoshop and inverted the colours, creating two visually simple counterparts. Both were loaded onto an SD card and the frame was set to swap image every 4 seconds. With only these two images in the slideshow, it created a pulsing warning effect.
